Blue Jays Land George Springer

After weeks of rumour, the Blue Jays got their man. George Springer is coming to Toronto.

The Blue Jays have signed the three-time all-star to a six year, $150M dollar contract.

What more is there to say about George Springer that hasn’t already been said. He’s an elite hitter and fielder—a career batting average of .270 through seven seasons with the Houston Astros. At only 31, he has the chance to still be elite for years to come.

The Jays most significant need was in the outfield, and Springer fills that whole. An all-around terrific baseball player is going to help this young team in so many different ways

The Jays, who seemed to have been runners up for multiple free agents this summer, deliver on their promise to bring in high impact players to help this team get better now.

First with Kirby Yates' signing, and now with Springer, the Jays are proving they feel like their young stars are ready to win now.

The rumours have been that it would come down to the wire between the Blue Jays and the Mets as to which team would land the all-star centre fielder. In the end, the Jays might have sold him on the exciting young squad that Springer would have the chance to be a part of in their quest to win a World Series Championship for not just Toronto but all of Canada!

This signing should excite every Blue Jays fan. For the second straight summer, Ross Atkins and ownership have proven they are serious about turning this team into a contender. George Springer makes the Jays considerably better than they were a couple of days ago.

Again, take a deep breath, Blue Jays fans. We got him; he's a Blue Jay. Spring training can't get here quick enough.
